Visual Effects

Some examples of my VFX work in the past.

  • Compositing

Taking all the VFX elements and combining them into the final shot, I have composited elements such as Fire/Smoke, 3D Objects, Green Screen Assets and have experience with Alpha Mattes and Rotoscoping.

  • 3D Rendering

Blender 3D is an incredibly powerful piece of software, in the past I have made CGI animations, set extensions, and simulated fire, cloth and liquid for use in VFX. I have working knowledge in a variety of formats such as EXR, OBJ, PNG, and FBX, to name a few.

  • Shot Cleanup

While in production, it can be intense when the clock is ticking, sometimes things can get overlooked. Maybe the boom mic is in frame, noisy footage, or someone on the crew left a coffee cup in the shot, it can happen!

Compositing

Compositing is about seamlessly blending elements to create a unified visual shot that tells a story. Using techniques such as motion tracking, colour matching and rotoscoping, I have integrated VFX stock elements, such as Fire/Smoke, 3D elements, and live footage.

I always try to approach each project with a focus on learning and adapting.

3D Rendering

3D VFX can be very complex, depending on the project. I have experience across various aspects of 3D, from set extensions to cloth/smoke/liquid simulations, to texturing and rendering. I’m confident in working with 3D formats such as USD, OBJ, FBX, and STL.

I plan each VFX shot to ensure time is not wasted and each effect is as polished and visually pleasing as it can be.

Shot Cleanup

VFX cleanups involve refining footage to achieve a “clean” shot. I can remove unwanted objects, wires and tracking markers. This also includes removing digital noise/grain and background distractions to either enhance or fix imperfections in a shot.

Sometimes, the best VFX is when you don’t notice it!
